We are pleased to be able to advise many organisations in Wales about which place-names they should adopt officially and how they might promote these important names. Here are some examples of recent projects. Please contact us if you would like to discuss working with us on a standardisation project.
Topographical names in Eryri National Park
Eryri National Park is currently working on projects to standardise Eryri’s topographical names in cooperation with the Commissioner's Place-names Standardisation Panel and Cardiff University's School of Welsh. A pilot project was undertaken in 2023 to standardise the names of Eryri's lakes. You can read more about the work on the Eryri National Park website.
Names of monuments in Cadw’s care
The Place-names Standardisation Panel has worked with Cadw to agree a list of standardised bilingual names for the monuments in Cadw’s care. These are the names officially used by Cadw in English and Welsh.
You can find the complete list available for download on BydTermCymru.
