Request to the Welsh Language Commissioner for legal assistance

The Commissioner has the right to initiate or intervene in legal proceedings in England and Wales and also provide legal aid to an individual.

The Commissioner has drawn up a framework explaining when she will be ready to initiate proceedings or intervene in legal proceedings.

The Commissioner will use this power if it is considered that a matter is strategically important to promote and facilitate the use of the Welsh language; where there is no alternative to achieve the same goal and if the case is one of obvious public interest.

The framework also explains how the Commissioner will use these powers.

If you want the Commissioner to intervene or give you legal assistance, please complete the form below and ensure that you include as much relevant information as possible. You can also download the form here or send it to post@cyg-wlc.cymru .

All requests are treated as confidential.
